Who We Are

Oltremare Racquet Camp offers an unparalleled squash experience for campers aged 9 to 15, in the popular resort town of Riccione, Italy.

Our squash instructors are world-class, with deep experience and passion for coaching junior players.

Simone Rocca, Oltremare Racquet Camp’s director, will head up our squash program. He will be assisted by local coaches from Queen’s Club Cattolica, a premier sports center.

For nearly a decade, Simone dominated the sport in his native country, winning eight national squash championships and representing Italy at 17 world and European championships.

He holds the top Italian coaching certification and served as head coach of the Italian Junior National Team from 2007 to 2011. Before that, he was head coach at squash clubs in Turin, Florence, and Prague.

Known for his innovative teaching techniques for beginners, Simone is particularly effective at imparting his champion mindset to his more advanced students.

He has a passion for squash and especially loves working with juniors.

With SquashRx, Simone successfully led summer squash camps for kids aged 10 to 14 in Riccione, Italy, and Porto, Portugal (2021 and 2022). In addition to squash training and international competitions, the campers participated in cultural and recreational activities.

Seven years prior to that, Simone led the TOG summer camp in Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands, which included squash instruction and tournament play.

At Oltremare Racquet Camp, squash players of all levels — from beginner to advanced — will train daily at the National Squash Center (Federazione Italiana Giuoco Squash), a premier facility with 7 squash courts. Advanced squash players can play with the Riccione squash team.

  • A balance of drills, technique refinement, strategy, and match play
  • Physical conditioning to enhance endurance and strength

Mental training and visualization to improve focus, motivation, and a competitive mindset.

Where It Takes Place

Oltremare Racquet Camp is based in Riccione, a popular seaside resort on the Adriatic Sea. We will stay at the luxurious Hotel Poker, which is just minutes from the beach.

When is Our Squash Program

Our squash program will take place from July 6-20, 2025. Campers can sign up for one week or the full two-week summer camp. Each week will provide a unique opportunity to refine squash skills and compete against fellow campers.

Why Choose Oltremare Racquet Camp?

  • Expert Coaching: Top instructors with international and junior coaching experience
  • Comprehensive Training: An all-encompassing approach to squash, including technique, strength, agility, and match play
  • Small Class Sizes: Personalized attention with a ratio of four campers to one instructor
  • Competitive Play:  Participation in organized matches with the local team
  • Beautiful Location: The squash courts are five minutes from the beach. The resort town of Riccione has been nicknamed “la Perla Verde” (the Green Pearl) for its affluent villas and greenery. There are wide walking streets, pristine beaches, and fun activities for all ages. Plus, it’s conveniently situated for side trips to Florence and San Marino.
  • Skill Development: Footwork, stroke mechanics, mental toughness, and overall game strategy

How It Works

Each day at camp consists of structured training sessions, fitness drills, and match play. The program is divided into three main components:

  • Training & Technique: Focus on fundamental and advanced strokes, footwork, and strategy
  • Strength & Conditioning: Physical training sessions designed to enhance endurance, flexibility, and speed
  • Games & Competition: Daily practice matches and weekly tournaments to apply strategy, skills, and mental toughness in a competitive setting

Each 90-minute squash session is divided into six 15-minute sections. For example, we’ll start with warm-up technique, then work on the forehand with different pattern drills, then the backhand, then both forehand and backhand, then fitness. The last 15 minutes is the fun part with match play, games, team games, defense, offense, and three-quarter court.

While there may be four beginner squash players on one court, there would be a maximum of two or three advanced squash players on the court at the same time.
